Spice Up Your Life with Group Fitness
group fitness - six reasons to give it a go
Has your fitness routine got a little out of shape over the last few months? Perhaps you've continued to exercise but had to go it alone at a distance. Whether you want to get back into group fitness, or you're giving it a go for the first time, head into your nearest Habit Fitness Club to see what's on offer.
If you feel a little apprehensive about joining a new class, that's totally normal. Our instructors are here to welcome you, provide the coaching you need and to ensure you exercise at the right level for your fitness. While we make you feel welcome, rest assured, we are maintaining the highest standards of cleaning in all areas of our gyms.
Stephanie Challis is an Elite Personal Trainer here at Habit and leads some of our group fitness classes. She explains why group fitness could be one of the best decisions you make for your physical and mental wellbeing.
Being surrounded by dedicated, like-minded individuals is motivating in itself. It doesn't get much more empowering than a class with an encouraging instructor and supportive people all working hard. You might even find yourself pushing a little bit harder with other people around you.
2. Leave the planning to the experts
We do all the planning, so all you have to do is turn up. We structure each class around a warm-up, a balanced workout and a cool-down.
The warm-up raises your heart rate while loosening your joints and muscles before you jump into more strenuous activity. Your instructor will coach you through each segment of the workout. The cool-down safely lowers your heart rate while stretching all the major muscles worked during class.
3. Learn to exercise with proper form
It's the fitness instructor's job to demonstrate how to exercise with proper form and make sure that everyone in the class is doing each exercise the right way. Proper form is essential for your muscles to reap the most out of every activity and to help avoid injury.
4. Variety really is the spice of life
You're spoilt for choice at Habit with Power, Boxing, Spin, Pilates, Yoga, H.I.I.T and more. You can choose the style, pace and intensity of class that suits you. If you like your workout a little tougher, take a look at the Small Group Personal Training classes like Blitz, TRX and Functional Circuit Training. Find out more.
Keep your body guessing by introducing different forms of exercise. Changing up the classes in your workout regimen creates muscle confusion, which ramps up your metabolism. You might also find something new that becomes your passion.
5. Commit it to your calendar
We ask members to sign up in advance for classes for a couple of reasons:
- To keep yourself accountable. If you're signed up, and it's on your schedule, there's a much better chance you won't skip it.
- To prevent crowded classes and to ensure that there's always enough room to exercise.
6. Group fitness is fun!
Your solo workout is likely to be beneficial and enjoyable, but we've yet to meet someone who doesn't respond positively to some socialisation and interaction along the way. Exercising with other people can have a positive impact on both your physical and mental wellbeing.
With upbeat music and a group of people to motivate each other along the way, no wonder it's such a popular way to get your heartbeat up and endorphins flowing. If you're looking to add a little more pizazz and fun to your fitness, group classes could be just what you need.
So, join in the Habit fitness vibe! Check out our classes and book today.
