May 2020 Update: Come in, We're Open!
May 2020 Update: Come in, we're open.
Habit's Back! We’re so excited to be able to welcome you back to our Habit Health + Fitness Clubs! On Wednesday 13th May (11.59pm), New Zealand will downgrade the national alert level to Level 2. We have been making preparations to re-open in the background and look forward to seeing you all from Thursday 6am, 14th May. With the risk of exposure significantly reduced and a few common-sense measures in place, we can now do so safely.
How we will operate in Alert Level 2
We have all done our part in maintaining self-isolation and social distancing to combat further the spread of COVID-19. Well-done everyone! The relative risk of infection is now extremely low, however we don’t want to lose any of the progress gained over the past two months. So, we do ask if you’re feeling unwell, please don’t come to the gym.
If you are well, you will be able to come into the gym and exercise. We’ll be closely monitoring the number of people into the gym at a given time to help you to maintain social distancing. We don’t expect to have any issues with this as even at our peak times numbers are always well under the guidelines and well spread out within the gym environment.
You’ll notice a few changes, like equipment re-positioned and other preventative measures. We will have an abundance of hand sanitiser and vinyl gloves for those that want to wear them. We’ll ask you to please maintain at least 1 metre between yourself and others and to be patient if someone is using a piece of equipment next to the one you would like to use. As might be expected, surfaces are being regularly disinfected.
Much like other businesses we will make sure that we know who is in the gym at any one time so that if, in the very unlikely situation that we have a gym member get sick in the future, we can trace who was on site at the same time. This means we will need you to swipe in and let us know when you are leaving. We will be noting the time you leave in your visit notes, so it’s key that you both check in and out via reception. Opening hours can be found here and will be posted.
Our ONE-TO-ONE Personal Training sessions are back as well. Enjoy the benefits of working out again in our modern facilities You can book in a trainer here.
Group Fitness Classes
Yes. Group fitness classes are coming back too. Next week, we will be re-introducing some of our group fitness classes. As we continue to move down the alert levels, we will introduce more classes. Classes will be capped to ensure the safe distancing.
It’s always considered good gym etiquette to use the disinfectant wipes to wipe down equipment before and after use. We all must do our part so now this becomes essential. Many of our memberships include a complimentary towel service. If your membership does not include a towel service, you will need to bring a towel to work out with.
Keeping a Level Head
Throughout the past two months, New Zealanders have pulled together and shown that we’re really quite good at taking personal responsibility in the interest of public health. We have made great strides and many businesses, including our own, have adapted the way we operate as a result. We can all be very proud of the progress we’ve made. After daily messages warning of the risks, we know that getting back to normal is going to be our next hurdle. With the alert level now down to Level 2, we can all breathe easier knowing that, in addition to the many measures we’re all actively taking, the risk of exposure to COVID-19 is now significantly reduced. As you come and go in the gym, remember to swipe in your membership tag and check out with reception as you leave.
