How to free up your body
Many of us have day-to-day aches and pains or some that come and go. Such niggles or feelings of stiffness can often be caused by adhesions or trigger points in the connective tissue throughout the body and muscles. This tissue is known as fascia and surrounds the body like a web, connecting muscles, organs and nerves. Lack of movement – like sitting at your desk for hours – or repetitive stress to an area – like tennis elbow (tendinopathy) – can cause the fascia to stick together, resulting in a trigger point or knot, as it’s known colloquially.
The good news is that there are several ways to relieve pain from these trigger points. Today we’re talking about Trigger Point therapy tools – a range of specially designed rollers and balls. You can use these to address areas of tightness and discomfort in the body using a process called self-myofascial release. Combined with a corrective exercise programme, you can keep your fascia fresh and moving freely without getting stuck.
Below are just a few ways you can use the trigger point therapy tools to help keep your aches and pains away.
