Yoga
Focus your mind, body and breathing
Build your spiritual, mental and physical wellbeing. Yoga helps you increase your flexibility and strength as you focus your mind and breathing. There is no loud music, no distraction – just you and a holistic workout that aims to balance the body and mind through physical exercise.
We teach five different styles of yoga:
Hatha Yoga
Hatha refers to a sequence of physical asanas (postures) and is designed to align your muscles and bones. These postures also open the many channels of the body including the spine which allows energy to flow freely. The slow pace and simple breathing exercises make Hatha a great place to learn basic poses and become comfortable on the mat. These classes are energising and helps to build strength, flexibility as well as a better mind/body connection.
Power Hatha Yoga
Similar to the above but exercises are performed at a faster pace, causing warmth in the body. Recommended for experienced practitioners.
Vinyasa/Yoga Nidra
Vinyasa means breathe-synchronised movement. Vinyasa yoga is a series of asanas (postures) in which one moves through with the inhale and exhale of the breath. Vinyasa movements are smoothly flowing and almost dance-like. These classes are started and finished with Yoga Nidra (meaning ‘yogic sleep’) that aims to quieten the mind through relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. A great way to de-stress after a long day.
Vinyasa/Yin Yoga
This Saturday morning class brings together a combination of energising standing postures and Yin postures. If you have had a stressful week this practice is one of release and balance, through targeted breath work, movement and stillness.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga concentrates on floor postures that target the connective tissues. For this reason postures are held for extended periods of time, allowing the asana to work deeply. This is a great practice for beginners or athletes wanting to add more movement around joints.
Please check your Club’s timetables for yoga class times, styles and levels. If you are new to yoga at Habit, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your first class to discuss your previous experience, illness, injury, surgery or pregnancy conditions with your teacher.
